Effortlessly Productive

The Most Expensive Mistake You’re Making in Your Business (That’s Keeping You Stuck at Your Current Income Level)

Annie Veblen McCarty Episode 47

Are you working harder than ever but still stuck at the same income level? The culprit might be simpler than you think.

For spiritual entrepreneurs, coaches, and visionaries, the most expensive business mistake isn't poor marketing or insufficient skills—it's trying to do everything yourself. When you're caught in the cycle of overworking, avoiding systems, resisting automation, and postponing delegation, you're actively limiting your growth potential.

Tech fatigue is the canary in the coal mine. When you're spending hours wrestling with funnels, email sequences, and administrative tasks instead of serving clients, you're not just wasting time—you're burning money. Every minute spent on backend systems is a minute not spent in your zone of genius, where you create the most value and generate the most income.

The Effortlessly Productive Method offers a clear path forward: identify what only you can do, what lights you up, and what generates the most revenue. Then build systems and teams around these insights. Traditional tech platforms often fail spiritual entrepreneurs because they weren't designed for heart-centered, intuitive business models. Solutions like CoachOS integrate marketing, client management, community building, payments, and more into one cohesive system, eliminating the cobbled-together approach that causes so much stress.

Your nervous system also plays a crucial role in breaking through income plateaus. When you're constantly hijacked by technical overwhelm, you can't access the creative, intuitive parts of yourself that your clients value most. Learning to regulate your nervous system creates space for strategic growth.

Welcome to today's episode of Effortlessly Productive. Today, we are going to be talking about the most expensive mistake that you're making in your business. That's keeping you stuck at your current income level. So I know this is something that hits home for a lot of entrepreneurs, where they hit a certain income level and they just get stuck there and they feel like they can't move past it. There is one specific mistake that I find so I'm working with a lot of coaches and healers and spiritual entrepreneurs and creatives and visionaries there is one mistake that a lot of people are making that is causing this. So that's what we're going to be talking about today. We're just going to come right out and say it and then we are going to talk about it and how to do some things to change this around. I'm going to say this with so much love in my heart for you, as I have been there. You need to stop trying to do everything yourself. So many spiritual entrepreneurs and visionaries are stuck in this cycle of overworking, and it's not because you're not capable, it's not because you're not a hard worker, it's not because you don't have what it takes to have success. It's because you're avoiding systems, you're avoiding automation, you're avoiding delegation and probably, if you did not catch my last episode on tech fatigue, go back and listen to that, please, please, please. Fatigue go back and listen to that, please, please, please.

Tech fatigue is what often is keeping spiritual entrepreneurs and coaches and visionaries stuck. That's like a symptom of them trying to do it all themselves. So if you are experiencing tech fatigue, that is a huge sign that you are trying to do everything yourself. We're going to talk a little bit more about tech fatigue just because this is such a huge topic that so many people are experiencing right now. A lot of coaches and these creative and solid entrepreneurs you're overwhelmed by tech and you are just wasting your time learning all these skills that you don't actually need, wasting your time learning all these skills that you don't actually need. You might be spending so much time trying to figure out back-end systems that you aren't actually coaching, creating or making money. I know that one hits so many people hard and they're like when they hear that. They're like oh my gosh, yes, like. That's why I started my business. I started my business to coach people and heal people and create and earn this income, and I am now just stuck in these backend systems or admin work or doing everything manually, and I want to get back to that place where I am working with clients. That's what lights me up.

Speaker 0:

So if tech fatigue is exhausting you, if it's draining your business, it's actually keeping you from that success that you want so badly, and when we say success, let's think about that. Yes, success is an accolade. Success is that thing to be proud of. Success is all the nice things that you can do for your family. It's leaving that legacy for your family, and it also represents the impact of people, like the lives that you have touched, the people that you have changed and helped. So when we talk about success, that is a sign of how many people that you have helped and served in this world.

Speaker 0:

But so many business owners, so many entrepreneurs, are burning themselves out trying to manage these systems that aren't aligned with their energy, and that's what I so often see. It's not the tech is bad. It's not that we don't want systems in our business. It's not that we don't want to scale. It's that we need to do these in ways that are aligned with our energy.

Speaker 0:

If you feel like you might be wasting time doing the wrong things, this episode is for you. In reality, it's not so much that you are doing all the things, it's that you're doing the wrong things. It's that you're putting your time and energy into things that are not income generating activities and you're spending hours and hours and hours on things like tech and back end and admin tasks instead of doing these right things and instead of getting to serve and coach your clients. It's that lack of structure and that lack of automation that is costing spiritual entrepreneurs and coaches and visionaries that money every single day. Like I said, this can look like tech fatigue. This can look like a lack of automation in your business. This can look like doing everything manually, and all of these things are costing you your time, your energy and they are costing you money. Instead of running a business that supports you, you're maybe manually setting up funnels and emails and systems. That's all valuable energy that could be going into creating and teaching and coaching.

Speaker 0:

So what do we do about this? If you are sitting here listening to this or watching this podcast episode and you're like, yep, that is me, what are some things that we can do about this? First of all, I would highly encourage you to lean into my effortlessly productive method. We need to figure out what you do best like nobody else, and what you love doing and what lights you up. That's number one. We have to figure that out. We have to figure out what those income producing activities are that are going to get you the biggest bang for your buck, and are those things that you want to hold onto and that you love doing and that you do better than anybody else. Or are maybe there some of those things we can give to somebody else to do we can find the best who to do them right, somebody who their strengths are gonna align with that so much more. Or is this something that we can automate? Is this something that we can build a system to automate, that we can scale, that we can systematize, that we can basically have taken care of for us? So once we can start to identify that stuff in our business, then we can start to create a game plan to get some of this off of your plate, to free up that energy. But we can't do that unless we go through this effortlessly productive method.

Speaker 0:

You can definitely go back through some of my past episodes if you want to kind of piece this together. I do find often it helps to have a set of eyes that are a little bit removed, right, somebody who is unbiased and not in our business, and that's part of why I offer audits using my effortlessly productive method, and I have a wide range of different kinds of audits we can do to fix one little thing in your business, or we could do a deep dive into all these different leaks. So if you are curious in that, reach out to me and I can help you with that one little thing in your business, or we could do a deep dive into all these different leaks. So if you are curious in that, reach out to me and I can help you with that. Or just lean into this effortlessly productive method and definitely figure out what we can take off your plate.

Speaker 0:

We want to be putting our time and, most importantly, our energy into what we love doing and what we do best, what lights us up, what is our magic, what is our special gifts. That is a really good measure of if we are doing the right things or we are doing the wrong things. We also need to start to regulate our hijack nervous system. If you are experiencing all of this and you are like my time and energy are so drained, I am exhausted, I have tech fatigue. I have no automation in my business. I'm doing everything manually. Your nervous system there is a really good chance that is completely hijacked and we need to start to bring you back down into a regulated nervous system state. And, like I've said so many times in past episodes, it's not that we don't go into that higher level of alert, it's not that we never go into fight or flight or never go into freeze and we want to be excited. Sometimes. That's a little bit elevated nervous system state, right, so that's not a bad thing, but we also need to be able to come back down as well. So if you need some help regulating your nervous system, definitely reach out to me or just find some ways, explore that a little bit, figure out how to get back into a place of regulation that you can operate out of most of the time, because then those moments where you are excited, they're going to feel so good, right, because you know you can come back down from it.

Speaker 0:

One other thing that we really need to do with all of this is we need to start to be able to simplify our tech, right, because I find so often that is the piece that spiritual entrepreneurs and coaches and creatives and visionaries. It's the tech side of things that they are spending so much time on, whether that's like pure tech of like setting up a funnel, or whether that is like just doing these manual back and repetitive tasks over and over and over again. A lot of that can be taken care of with tech. Again, go back and listen to my last episode on tech fatigue. I dive so much deeper into all of this. Like, maybe we have stuff that's all over the place. Maybe we have stuff that you know it's super expensive and that's stressing us out. Maybe we're trying to duct tape together all these different systems. We need to simplify that. We need to find a system that works well for us. So I wanted to talk a little bit here, because so many people reach out to me and they're like, okay, you talk about this all the time, like simplifying the tech, finding a system that works for you. Like I just don't know what platform to go with. So I just want to spend a little bit of time talking about my CoachOS platform, because so many people come to me looking for an answer and I truly believe CoachOS is the answer to your tech fatigue.

Speaker 0:

Number one it eliminates the need for multiple expensive platforms. So a lot of the time I find people are using something and, again, there's nothing wrong with any of these platforms for the people that they work well for, but I find often for spiritual entrepreneurs and healers and visionaries and coaches, they're not the ideal platform. There is something missing. So maybe they have Kajabi but they're running Facebook ads, and then they're not the ideal platform. There is something missing. So maybe they have Kajabi but they're running Facebook ads, and then they're having to tie it together with Zapier. Maybe they have MailChimp and they're like it doesn't do all these other things that I need. I have Kajabi, but I want to use text message marketing or even just text message reminders for my clients for their appointments, and so then we're looking at adding on these other platforms that cost a lot of money and they don't work well together.

Speaker 0:

Coachos is designed specifically for spiritual entrepreneurs, with automating a lot of this stuff, so it's happening for you in the background without you having to touch it, but the piece that's missing for so many people is that community building right. As a spiritual entrepreneur or a coach, we are founded in our community. Our community is so important to us. Coachos has those community building features that align with your business model. Traditional tech platforms like Kajabi and like some of the other ones ClickFunnels, mailchimp, like all of those they're not designed for heart-centered, intuitive business owners. They tend to be much too rigid, maybe disorganized, maybe too complex, definitely expensive. So what CoachOS does is it simplifies everything by putting your marketing. So what Coach OS does is it simplifies everything by putting your marketing, your client management, your community, your social media management, your ads, your courses, your invoices, your contracts, your payments, your calendar. The list goes on and on. It takes all of that and it puts it all in one place.

Speaker 0:

Think about if you weren't trying to tie all of this together and make it work from a million different platforms, if you didn't have it all duct taped together and people falling through the cracks all over the place. If it was all in one place, how much time and effort would that save you? Gone are the days of healers and spiritual entrepreneurs and coaches trying to be tech experts. It is time for you to start to delegate and start to let a system like CoachOS do the work for you. We can have that support that we need from other people and from our business systems. So let other things do the heavy lifting for you. This is part of what is going to help you be able to focus on doing the right things, knowing that everything else is getting taken care of.

Speaker 0:

If you don't have a business that can scale without you, you are seriously capping your income and, even more importantly, you are capping the impact that you can have on the people that you want to help the most. So lean in. Let's start to take one or two steps. In the show notes, I will drop the link to CoachOS if that is something you are interested in. If you have a software platform that you love and it works for you, stay with it. But just start to figure out ways that we can start to take some things that do have to happen in our business. They're getting taken care of. They're just not your focus anymore. How would that feel if that didn't have to be your focus anymore? You knew, you trusted that it was all taken care of and you got to lean into doing what you love and doing what you do the best. I hope you have a beautiful rest of your day and I will catch you on the next episode of Effortlessly Productive.
