Let's dive in.
Speaker 1:Welcome to today's episode of Effortlessly Productive. We are going to be chatting today about the difference between confidence and self-confidence. So often I talk to entrepreneurs and business owners and like I just wish I was so much more confident. If I just had confidence, I could go out there and do stuff. I know a lot of people a lot of other coaches also, who I work with. I coach them and mentor them in their business, where their specialty is coaching people to have more confidence, and confidence is a fantastic thing. Confidence is where we can walk into a room, we can go out and promote our business, we can market our offers, we can meet new people. Whatever it is that we feel really good, that we know that we are going to do a good job of whatever it is we are doing. And where people go a little bit astray here is that they focus so much on plain old confidence. Now, what the difference is is confidence is that you know and trust yourself to do a good job, to show up in a certain way in a very specific situation. So it usually is things that we have done before. I am confident in coming on and recording a podcast episode for you, because this is my 31st time of recording my own podcast episode and I've spoken on lots of other podcasts as well. So I am confident in doing this because I have done this before. But what happens when we get into a situation where we have never done it before? As an entrepreneur, as a businesswoman, you are going to have lots of situations where you have never done that before.
Speaker 1:Example going to Montreal a few months ago I was flying to a different country, which I've done before. It's been a while since. I did it by myself and I was meeting a group of women there who I know from other areas. Some of them, some of them I don't. So the group that I was meeting, a group of women there who I know from other areas, some of them, some of them I don't. So the group that I was with, I only knew about half of them, and then we were at a conference. That was a brand new group of people for me. I had never met most of them before.
Speaker 1:The woman who was hosting the event I knew of her, but I didn't know her that well. I didn't know what she taught. I didn't know what to expect. I didn't know the other speakers. There was a lot of things that were very uncertain.
Speaker 1:The reason I was able to go into that room and show up in my power as my highest self is because I have self-confidence. So the difference is self-confidence is knowing and trusting in yourself that, no matter what situation you are presented with, you trust yourself that you are going to show up as your highest self, as your best version, even if you don't show up as your highest self and your best version. That is okay, because you are enough and you trust yourself that you will make your way through that situation, that you will navigate it with grace. And so, rather than relying on having had done it in the past, rather than relying on having had done it in the past, rather than relying on I have to have had experience with this, when we have self-confidence, it allows us to enter into brand new situations, knowing and trusting that, no matter what is thrown our way, we will be able to navigate it one way or another.
Speaker 1:And when we have self-confidence, as you can see, you can go into these things that are brand new and still show up in that way that you want to show up in that knowing, in that trusting, in that enoughness of yourself and crush every single situation because you trust yourself. So I hope this episode helps shed some light on. Maybe you've had a situation where you're like I usually am so confident, but I was really shaken in this. Or I only am confident in situations where I've done it before and I just don't understand why that confidence doesn't translate. That is why because we need to work on building that self-confidence in you as well, so have a beautiful rest of your day. I will catch you on the next episode of Effortlessly Productive.
